Well done Talkspace for celebrating Mens health awareness month for the month of November with this campaign aimed at getting more men into Therapy.
Not a specific mention of International Men's Day on Nov 19th but the closest we came to one of these companies with millions in VC funding, huge marketing departments, all trying to get people into therapy doing anything aimed specifically at men..
But maybe everyone ignored it I hear you ask? What about companies in other industries with equally large marketing budgets? Yes, shout out to British Transport Police, The Hilton Garden Inn of Sudbury and Pernod Ricard Nigeria for their efforts.
So, if the mental health companies were not celebrating men on Nov 19th what were they doing? Here's a quick look..
Lastly what about industry publications and professional bodies like Psychology Today and the APA? Surely they picked it up?
As an industry we need to do better in mental health, helping men does not come at the expense of everyone else, they / we need therapy just as much and face some very specific barriers to engaging and sticking with therapy. Therapy companies need to adapt this one size fits all approach and I'm here to help you do this when you're ready..
